Shettles Method and Influencing the Sex of your child

Did any of you try the Shettles Method to influence the sex of your child? What was the outcome for you? Did you try things in addition to timing conception to increase the odds of having a boy or girl?
I am asking because I have two boys and would like a third child. I would be happy with either a boy or girl, but would like to increase my odds of having a girl, if possible, because I don't really see why I wouldn't at least give it a try. I am reading Taking Charge of your Fertility and charting my cycles. The book makes it seem like it's easy to get what you want, but that just can't be how it actually works in the real world. Thanks for any experiences, insight, and/or reality checks! |

| Good luck! Mostly, I know families with 3 of 1 sex. Very few with 2/1 ratios. Heck my grandma had 5 boys! Not going to play that game... |

| Total bunk. Total nonsense. I've been on the ingender board for a century and it works about half the time. Half the time people would have gotten girls. It can't hurt to go for it, but I have watched closely (2 boys as well) and it doesn't seem to work AT ALL. |

I thought I'd try the methods in TCOYF to try for a girl for a few cycles. I also chart and use OPK's. here we are almost a year later and still not pregnant. At this point I would be happy just to be pregnant and I'm kicking myself for those first few months when we should have been in bed more often.

your friend just got her right 50% chance, and you got your wrong 50%. as simple as that. Otherwise I can go out and write a book "how to chose the sex of your child" teaching people to just think "I hope I will have a girl". worked for me both times I had kids, 100% success, the best method! |

| We didn't do Shettles intentionally, but I was traveling the first month we were TTC, so we had sex just before I left, and then I got a positive ovulation test 2 days later. We're having a girl. Obviously, this is only anecdotal, but I thought I'd through it out there. |

We used Shettles for a boy (already had a girl) but we ended up with another girl. We didn't take it too seriously though - just did it for fun and were delighted with our second daughter.
I figure it can't hurt, just don't get too wrapped up in it. |

OP I'm in the same situation, I have 2 boys and would like to raise my chances on having the 3rd be a girl. Based on these posters it doesnt look to promising but figure what the heck I'll still give it a try and follow the shettles method.
