| Thanks for sharing this. Our child is having an amazing (now 2nd year of) high school experience at Latin at the current campus. I know this is high school search time for a lot of families. If anyone has any questions feel free to post. |
|
Sure, I'll ask. What do you like about it?
|
| These people know what they are doing. |
|
Latin, National Cathedral, Phillips Collection, and Galludet all bring in $100,000. Only a couple of grantees come in above these institutions.

| KIPP comes in at $150,000. |

How is it that Latin, which is older than Yu Ying, just got a lease on a dilapidated former DCPS elementary school, and Yu Ying purchased gorgeous facility and is creating outdoor classrooms?
|
| I think Latin has a 50-year deal and does not compete with YY. |
Yu Ying overcharges everyone for aftercare and lunches. That and short-changing kids on music classes and pretending the Chinese immersion model costs more. Yu Ying had a big grant to cover Mandarin resources and banked the profit they made on parents. (The teaching model they use doesn't cost any more than a non-immersion school, when you consider faculty costs.) Money in the bank meant money for a downpayment on a building, which they renovated. |
| The first Head of school at Latin ran up a huge debt. |
Latin is debt free. |
In a single year, Yu Ying added about $9m in liabilities. |
| YY offers music this year. |
| Latin and YY are both fine and do not compete in any way. |
