Kid friendly restaurant downtown?

We want to take our son to see Santa on the Mall Friday evening. Any thoughts for a kid-friendly restaurant nearby that isn't a chain and/or terrible? Our son is 3.5 Thanks.

We went to Chef Geoff's Downtown last weekend (pre-Nutcracker) and it was lovely. Good food (for parents & kids) and a nice, patient wait staff.

Ella's, Hill Country, Teaism, Good Stuff Eatery....?

Ella's is very kid-friendly. Highly recommend it. The wait staff has always been really sweet to our 2 yr old.

Clyde's is good for kids and large enough that you can always get a table.

Matchbox is a good suggestion except isn't there pretty much always a wait?

Depends when you go. If you go "kid hours" no. I live 5 blocks away and rarely have I had to wait for a 5:30 dinner.

Ella's - huh. Didn't even know that existed! Sounds like a good choice, thanks!
