Infertility Support and Discussion
|
Hello,
My husband will be traveling for a week next month, and according to "Taking Charge of Your Fertily - Software", I will be ovulating during that same period. Traveling with him is not an option, so any sugestions to not "waste" the next cycle? Anyone has any experience of talking to a doctor to trigger ovulation during a specific time of the cycle? Tia. |

Taking a trigger shot will not change the proper time for you to ovulate. You ovulate (and want to ovulate) when your follicle(s) is(are) mature for that cycle. That is one reason why women who undergo fertility treatments are so closely monitored. If doctors could totally control when women who are TTC mature their follicles then fertility centers would not be open 365 days a year!
That being said, the only way I know to control when you get your period, and thus have some control when you next ovulate is to take birth control pills during the previous month -- which is counter-productive to TTC. |

Fertility meds have serious side effects. It is irresponsible to take them if you do not need them. Plus, even with fertility meds, the timing of ovulation is unpredictable which is why REs ask that you do the OPK and they do ultrasounds to monitor when ovulation will take place. "Wasting" one cycle is not the end of the world! It takes time to conceive and you have to be patient... |
| What CD is your husband leaving on & on what CD do you typically ovulate? In theory you could still get pregnant with a 3 day cut-off (there are, of course, examples of longer cut-offs, but this is less common). Depending on when he's leaving, you could still try ..... and who knows, it might work! |
| OP - just wanted to say I know how frustrating this is....this happened to us a fair amount. I even did a quick trip to meet him once to make the timing right.....talk to your OB or RE and see if they have any options for you. Good luck. |
