Are fertility monitors worth it?

If so, please recommend one that worked for you. TIA.

Clearblue

I have clearblue. I like it and I prefer it to the cheapie OPKs that I was using. It takes out the guesswork with OPKs (generally speaking). I honestly don't know if it's worth it or not. This is my 4th month. Lots of people report getting pregnant right away. Whatever makes you feel better, you know? I bought mine on Amazon. I think it was $189 with a box of sticks and I've had to buy another box of sticks for $40. Don't buy them at CVS - they were $60. Crazy.

I can't speak to whether they are worth it but they are eligible for flex spending reimbursement, which lessens the overall hit. I may buy one in January with next year's funds (if I'm not pregnant by then).

I did not think it was worth it and just used cheapie Amazon OPKs. Then again, I have a *very* regular cycle (always O at CD 17-18) and got clear OPKs results. If your cycle is erratic or you can't get a clear + on an OPK, I would consider investing in the monitor.

I have really irregular cycles and I have to say this was one of the best purchases that I have made. I got mine on diapers.com. I think it was $149 on there and the test sticks are around $40-ish. I also saw them at CVS like one of the posters above and they were over $60. So, it pays to buy the stick online. I have had success twice with the monitor.

I never got a positive with an OPK. I bought the Clearblue last month from amazon and I got a positive on day 15 and 16. I got my period, so I can't speak to its effectiveness at this point. But I definitely feel better seeing that I at least can get a positive.

I was too cheap to buy a monitor, and just used OPKs. However, I could only get positives using first morning urine, which my doctor said was actually pretty common if you are someone who drinks a lot of liquids throughout the day. Took 16 months, but eventually it worked!

Honestly I think they're a waste of $. If you read online, lots of people say they got pg after using it for one month. I would wonder if those are people who weren't charting or doing other things before. If you're using TCYF or OPK's or almost any other method, I don't think the monitor really improves anything since you probably know already roughly when you tend to ovulate. I had a few months of weird readings too and when I asked my Dr. he said for a lot of people they still don't pick up the hormones any better than an OPK. I'm sure they do work for some people, but I would say try other things first and save your $$.

We got pregnant month #2 using Clearblue, month #4 TTC. I loved the Clearblue and will use it again next time around.

Clearblue. But pay attention to other signs too- cm, temp. When I got my bfp my monitor never went to peak. It went to high. I did bd because I had crazy ewcm. I would also do opk's too in the beginning. I tend to have a short surge so the monitor has missed it a few times.

a waste for me too. I think you just need to time it right based on other factors and if that doesnt work then you have a problem and need to see an RE.

My cycle is a bit strange in that it's usually right at 28 days, but sometimes I ovulate on day 9, sometimes not until day 13. I've used the monitor for a total of 5 cycles and gotten pregnant three times. I'm a fan.

I used the clearblue easy fertility monitor for #1. It never gave me a positive for ovulation - only high fertility days. But I'm not complaining because it worked anyway. Now that I'm trying for #2, I'm having better luck with the cheap OPKs. Clearblue is not working will since I had the miscarriage.
