Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| OK - so it might not exist but in the event that you have a highly active say 13-5 month old and they have a toy that holds their attention for longer than 2 minutes - please let me know. We just need 10-15 minutes in the morning that he can occupy himself. |

I need one too. So far we have the sofa, the curtains, the remote controls, the kitchen chairs, resetting the dishwasher, sumo stomping on the dog's paws. coffee cups, putting toys in the trash can, pulling out dresser drawrs, diving off of beds.
If it was bought in a store it will not be played with. If it is attached to the house and not meant to be a toy it will be played with. The one thing I can say my 15 month old plays with is the toy vacuum and toy lawn mower, but really only because I will not let him play with the real ones. We meet half way on that one. |
| What about the Fisher Price or Leapfrong activity tables, or a play kitchen? Also, try giving her a bunch of different sized plastic containers and some small objects like Cheerios or wooden blocks that she has to transfer from one container to the other. |

My 13-month-old has a very interactive (read, very noisy) toy dump truck that she loves: http://www.amazon.com/Educa-Super-Shapes-Truck-Activity/dp/B0006N8YTU/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1222461003&sr=1-15

My little guy likes the Fisher Price farm set - he can 'post' animals into the barn. One of his first words was actually "animal" after playing with this!

And this play garage was a big hit (especially putting the cars into the elevator): http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/601-8391191-3480121?asin=B000F4GHOE&afid=yahoossplp&lnm=B000F4GHOE|iPlay_Zoom_Around_Garage&ref=tgt_adv_XSMG1060 These give us at least 10 minutes - often much more! |
| ... and I'll own up ... we get 15 minutes in the morning to wake up & have some coffee by putting on a DVD (Thomas, Bob the Builder, ... ). |
well, since you said it first, I feel it's safe to jump in too. the best toy to entertain a toddler for 15 minutes in the morning while I get ready? Playhouse Disney and PBS Kids... |

One of DS' favorite toys is this:
http://www.amazon.com/Hasbro-Tonka-Wheel-Driver-Scoot/dp/B000OV7A6C/ref=pd_bbs_5?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1222477435&sr=8-5 He is also into pull toys like these: http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Deluxe-Wooden-Frolicking/dp/B000MX7WBU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1222477577&sr=1-1 http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-J4507-Roll-a-Rounds-Pull-Caterpillar/dp/B000A88KOK/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1222477621&sr=1-10 But the sure fire way to get him to sit still for more than 5 minutes is tv. |
