If you have pets, what is the lowest temperature setting during the winter and the highest

during summer for you house, while you are away?

We just got a programable thermostat and I have no idea how low/high I can get away with since we have 2 cats.

They have fur. So, winter can be set somewhat cool. In the summer, don't set it to sauna levels and they'll be fine. Also our home has a basement that is naturally cooler so they like go down there and curl up on a chair or couch if they are warm.

66 during the winter when we aren't home and 78 in the summer.

I lived in an old crappy house that didn't hold any heat. It was a battle to keep the house at 60 (with a 300 gas bill!). Cats were fine (although one did take to sleeping under the covers with me).

60 during the winter when we aren't home (the cats often curl up together) or 75 in the summer when we aren't home. I assume they are smart enough to go to the basement if it gets too hot but I don't want to take any chances. One of them hasn't distinguished himself in the brains department.

I've lived in un-airconditioned apartments with cats. They did just fine. The only time I saw my cat stressed from the heat was on a 102 degree day.

I don't have ac. The cats do fine. In the winter it's about 40-45 in the bedrooms. They sleep under the covers or o. The dogs. One of the dogs sleeps outside and never goes in his house.
