Party is this Friday and I can't fit into anything i own. I have gained a lot of weight since weaning dd and I'm not looking great. My stomach, butt and boobs are all big. I'm squeezing into a 10 mostly and either a L or XL. I hate being in tight clothing so I generally try to wear stuff that's a little bit baggy. I have a serious belly - looks like I'm a few months pregnant.
Any suggestions on a dress? Ideally at or below $100. Party is more of cocktails and hors d'oeuvres than sit down dinner. Probably at a hotel or something. I think maybe two pieces rather than a dress may be more flattering. Help please! |
| What about instead a nice pair of black pants (black is slimming!) and a pretty tunic-style top with sequins for some sparkle? Pair it with some fancy shoes and fun jewelry and you're good to go! |
| I'd go with separates in black. Maybe a pair of stretch velvet bootcut or skinny pants with dressy boots. Add a shimmery, loose fitting top (as PP suggested) or a silky blouse with a light jacket or flowy cardigan. |
| A black wrap dress with a fun statement necklace. |
| I recommend the black pants also. I'm a little heavier than I would like still, and I have not found a dress I'm comfortable wearing. |

Interesting....whenever I am not happy with my weight, I feel like pants are the enemy! So many things can be hidden under dresses.
At any rate, I think you could get away with something simple in black by pairing it with fun jewelry and great shoes. |
| Black pants, but not shiny. Make sure they are long enough to make your legs look longer. High heels. Black top to show off your cleavage. A nice necklace or earrings to draw attention away from your lower half. Get your hair done if you have time, it will make you feel so much better. |
OP here. Thanks for all the advice. I went with a black sequined top and black matte pants. Great grey jewelry, high heels. I wish I could post a picture because its the best I've looked in a long time. THANKS!!!
