Know of a place that sells organic rotisserie chicken or other meat cooked 'to go' in Arlington?
|
| Whole foods in between wilson and clarendon blvds by market commons |
|
I don't think WF rotisserie chicken is organic, but it's definitely tasty.
Another option is Lebanese Taverna Market - they do rotisserie chickens and all sorts of other things to go. And also Carribean Grill on Lee Highway and George Mason. |
| Crisp and Juicy in the Lee Heights shopping center also has good rotisserie chicken. I also love Caribbean Grill. I think it will be hard to find cooked organic chicken around here - I just don't think there is a market for it! |
| We love Carribean Grill! We live around the corner! It is hard not to stop while not passing by! |
| Just had Caribbean Grill the other night. Tasty and very affordable. You can get a whole chicken and four sides for $16.00 and change. Lots of yummy sides to choose from. We always get the black beans, sweet plantains and yucca. Both the yucca fries and the yucca with mojo are delicious. |
| Caribbean Grill only takes cash no credit cards! I thought I would mention so you could be prepared! |
|
Ravi's at Glebe and Pershing - not rotisserie chicken, but kabobs. The chicken dishes are great.
Halal. |
I know! And even though they have that nice cash register, it never seems to be on and all the cash goes straight into the cash box! I love that place, but somehow I think they are not being completely honest when it comes to declaring income and paying taxes! |
no they're not, just like all the other chinese restaurants that are cash only. but i don't mind this at all as long as the food is good. big name/chains have accountants to do this for them, not the little guys. |
how're the prices? can you recommend a few main/side dishes? |
|
Ravis: Prices are cheap. They only take cash. Oh, they are on both sides of Glebe and Pershing - next to the CVS, and next to the florist. Both taste roughly the same.
I recommend the boneless chicken (bone in if you want spicier). There's nothing I don't like. The chole (chick peas) are AMAZING!!!!! Their dal, which isn't available every day is also great. On weekends they have Halim, which looks like gray paste. It is actually spiced meat and chickpea stew. It is probably my favorite food on earth. |
oh that sounds like heaven to me! i used to frequent (like twice a week) the old east-west grill in clarendon across from WF - they had the best everything - kabob, chick peas, beef stew, bread, etc. too bad the ownership changed and it's just doesn't taste right anymore. does ravis have tables to sit down and eat or is it take-out only? |
|
Yes. They do have tables. Disposable plates etc.
