Exquisite Fabrics on K st b/w 17th and 18th.
You can also get to G Street Fabrics in Rockville by metro - its a 5-10 min walk from the White Flint metro stop.

PP had good suggestions. My own 2 cents hold that while it is possible to walk from White Flint Metro to fairly nearby destinations on Rockville Pike, it's a short but miserable walk. There are sidewalks, but the planners did not have pedestrians in mind at all.

I totally agree. They never should have hired MC Escher as an urban planner. Your tax dollars at work, people...

Notice that large undeveloped lot right next to the WF Metro. Great planning, wouldn't want to be too efficient.

OP, also check out Marimekko in Silver Spring. Not sure what Metro though. Absolutely love their stuff.

There is a fabric store in Shirlington. (I believe you can get there by bus)

There is a Calico Corners that's only a short walk from the Friendship Heights metro.
