Age cut off for domestic adoption?

Anonymous
I've heard most domestic agencies won't take you after 40. Is that the case? And does that mean the adoption has to be finalized by 40, or just started by 40??

And if you've done a domestic adoption, did your birth mom care about your age??
What about your profession. We are both docs, and DH is a ped. will that help?
Thanks!

Your profession will matter to some and not others. It depends on if they like doctors and what their past experiences have been. We did it older and it was no big deal. Birth parents did not care at all. It just varies. There are some agency's with a cutoff but most is more closer to 50 than 40. You can always try private.

My sister is adopting thru an agency and she and DH are in their late 40s. The age limit varies by agency. The agency I used had a cutoff of 45.
