What is Going on at Eagle PCS?

Anonymous
Went to pick up my son and he was screaming and crying and it was CRAZY loud over there and the building was shaking like an earthquake. Couldn't hear ANYTHING it was so loud. Teacher said its going to be like this til the end of the year cause they're digging for new level. WTF? They need to over there and test the decibels before they make those kids go deaf!

probably building out the future commercial space planned for the "Blue Castle"

you should contact the developer and remind them that the building is leased to functioning KIPP and Eagle Academy charter schools

Eagle isn't at Blue Castle anymore. They were awarded DCPS space in Anacostia: DCPS 3400 Wheeler Rd. SE

KIPP hasn't occupied that building since KEY moved to their Benning Road campus a few years ago.

Have you brought your concerns up to the administration?

I hear there are proposals to address the situation asap. The noise level was higher than expected.

Apparently the principal was not receptive to complaints. I am going to call the PCSB.

Blame Washington DC height regulations that a school has to dig down rather than add a floor up as they would anywhere else.

I blame Eagle Administration for putting our children in a situation where they might suffer hearing loss. No one was forcing them to move - they still have the NJ campus, too. If they weren't ready to move in - they shouldn't have moved. PERIOD. There is no reason they should be doing this kind of work when children are in session. Teachers can't teach, children can't nap. The Charter School Board needs to get over there.

It's criminal, my child is having nightmares, and I am taking him in for a hearing test. If there is damage, I am suing the principal and the rest of the administration.

Sounds like amateur hour. How do these people get a charter to run a public school?

Just wanted to chime in to say that I don't know who is posting some of these things, but they are really off base. I don't think it is fair to do that to a school anonymously. The noise dropped off after a few days, the administration moved classes away from the noise and rearranged a lot to improve the situation. Please don't believe everything you read online.

Not true. I checked and was told that they would be drilling against next week during school hours. UNACCEPTABLE. The noise that "dropped off after a few days" was still at a level that could damage the hearing of young children - and should never have happened in the first place. I hope the principal can sleep at night with child endangerment on his conscience.
