I noticed on the Virginia 529 webpage (under "news") that the Virginia 529 Program seems to have entered some type of agreement/sponosrship/relationship with the Washington Redskins (September 2012). Does anybody know the details? I.e., how much is charged to the program as "marketing expenses?" |
They probably justify this as a marketing expense to the program. It wouldn't surprise me if there are game tickets and special player functions that the employees get to attend. In the end, someone has to bear the cost and its most likely the college savings accounts. |
kids' money for college? |
Virginia529 spends $250k per year from their "administrative fee"--sending it to the Redskins. Instead, they could send about 10 kids to a Virginia state school on a full ride. |
wow! |
I'll bet they have slim basis/measures to see if this works at all. |
Similar to the US Postal Service sponsoring a bicycle team. |
Right, a "marketing" expense. Nobody probably mailed an extra letter because they saw lance Armstrong win the the Tour de France. I guess that's why the postal service sodesn't spending their limited $$$ this way. |
