Going for my first daycare visit tomor
What should I be checking besides cleanliness, child:attendent ration ? Pl give some advices |

I would look at the type of classroom. Is it nice and inviting? Is there artwork hanging on the walls? Are there centers where children can play?
I would also eye the interactions. Are teachers getting down on the level and talking with the kids, or are they standing in a corner, etc Sometimes classrooms have a schedule hanging up as well, where you can get an idea of what their day is like. I'm sure if you were to ask someone would be happy to give you an overview as well. States also tend to post their inspection findings online too. You can check that to make sure the center has been in good standing. Good luck! |
| Safety procedures! Given the recent high profile cases where daycare providers "lost" toddlers you should be looking at how the teachers account for children during transitions and during any time they leave the classroom. Observe the teachers carefully. How much attention are they paying to children who wander off? If you ask them questions while they are taking care of the children are they looking at you or at the children? |
| I would see the behavior of teachers towards student, child to staff ratio, safety arrangements, health and sanitation facilities and location (how far is it from home). Also not to mention, do give a look to the qualifications of the staff. |
