First time going to someone's else house for Thanksgiving - what to bring?

Anonymous
So, we were invited to Thanksgiving dinner at a relative's/friends house (it is the first time we go to someone's else house for thanksgiving) - what should I bring? We will travel on the day of (about 3 hours trip) and stay there until Sunday, but in a hotel. We will certainly see them after Thanksgiving day too.

Every time they come to DC (unusually once a year) we have a lunch/dinner get together in a restaurant and they always bring a book to my toddler. Their little boy is 8 - I was thinking about bringing something for him this time AND something for the parents. Even though we had met for dinner/lunch in the past years, I can't remember if I ever saw them drinking alcohol, so, I am not sure about a wine bottle.

Ideas pls!!!

For their sons, ThinkFun games are fun:

Send a centerpiece for table that does not look like Christmas, take them out to dinner, and a small, simple gift for their son.

In addition to the above, take a good bottle of wine. Unless you know they don't drink--then maybe a pie or a nice appetizer item like nuts or cheese.

8 yo boys love Legos. Get a set to keep him busy while you are visiting.

Do not bring food. I hate it when a guest brings food because they always expect you to serve it. However, Beluga caviar is a lovely treat that I will hoard just for myself.
