Do you believe you have to like them?
My house is decent size, I have two toddlers. I can only pay every other week. The woman I have now is a real anal type, not married, no kids - higher than though. Cleans well so I can't discount her there but I am sick of the Attitude and look of disgust from her. I hate process of looking for someone new. I am just tired in general. What would you do? |
| I'd move into a smaller home that I could handle my family keeping clean ourselves. |
| Anal is a good quality for a cleaner! I don't really think her not having children or kids should be something you look down on her for. If you don't trust her, then replace her. |
| I would clean my own damn house. |
| I don't think you have to like her personally as long as you like the job she does. It's a professional relationship. If the only problem is her facial expression, can you just ignore it? Who cares what she thinks? |
| I'd find someone else. I got an estimate from one local company that came highly recommended and I'm sure would have done a great job, but the owner's attitude (oh, i guess youre too busy to dust the light bulbs over your bathroom vanity) turned me off. If I enjoyed cleaning I wouldn't be looking to hire someone. |
| No one needs to take crap from their cleaning lady. I would fire her instantly and find a better fit. Life is too short for BS from someone you hire to do a straightforward job. Seriously, she sounds nuts to be giving you attitude. Next thing you know she'll be stabbing your children. Move on and consider yourself lucky to have such a first world problem. Why are you agonizing? |

Who are all you people who are home when the cleaning lady comes? Even if I'm working from home that day, I get the hell out of the house when I know she's coming, so she can do her work without feeling she has to worry about being polite to me or whatever. Just pack up your kids and get the hell out of the house for a couple/few hours.
I have no idea whether or not I "like" my cleaning lady, because I haven't spoken to her in 3 or 4 years! I leave her a check, sometimes with a note saying "our glass-top table in the living room shattered; please be careful of glass" or "please deep-clean the stove/oven today" or "thanks for all your hard work, happy holidays!". |
| Seriously it's this^^kind of first world handwringing that made that Krim woman keep that nut job nanny longer than she should have. Why give a person a pass to be rude to you in your own home because they're doing manual labor? She is in your home probably while you're not there--she has access to your toothbrush. Don't keep a person on who you remotely suspect resents you or is disdainful of you. It's actually dangerous. |
Yeah, there are people who work from home and they even cross paths with their cleaning lady quite often, jack-hole. But thanks for your input. |
I feel the exact same way! And I think she gossips about me to the other clients who know me. I keep her because she does a good job, and she is honest. But I do get tired of her sneering face. If I had an easy road to another one, I would switch. |
You deprive others of much needed income. |
| Yes, I like her. Are we BFFs? No. But she is pleasant and considerate when I see her and she does an amazing job cleaning my house. I want an anal retentive cleaning lady! |
Is your house filthy? Two toddlers is not an excuse for living like a slob. I imagine the feeling is mutual but you blzame her for feeling disgust if you don't o anything to keep your house somewhat clean and neat every two weeks. |
|
Yeah, I like her because she spends four or so hours getting our house clean for us. I don't care if she likes me, thinks badly of me, or talks about me to others. Just do your job, take your money, and then go away.
I think people thinking about this are over-thinking things. |
