Anyone know about the Rose Hill/ Mark Twain/ Edison school pyramid in Franconia? We're considering moving to that area and don't know anything about the schools. The house we're interested in is big enough (and expensive enough) that we'd probably be in it for a long, long, time (through HS for our child) so we're interested in learning about all three schools. How do I go about finding more information about each of them?
Thanks for any information! |
First, take a look at www.greatschools.net.
My sister's kids go to Twain and Edison. Both schools seem to be reasonably okay although not fantastic. Twain is pretty large and known for some chaos as a result. Edison is one of the smaller high schools in Fairfax, which I think is a good thing. It also offers the IB program and has some interesting vocational opportunities for kids who are not on the path to college, including A+ computer certification program. Both schools have amazing diversity and seem perfectly safe places for kids to be. And Edison sends its top kids on to good universities ... I believe the valedictorian two years back went to UC Berkley. |
Thanks so much for the reply! I'll check out that website.

Bush Hill Elementary might be a better bet than Rose Hill. It's much smaller. Property values good now. Ditto above on Edison's IB. |
I would also look into Clermont elementary, probably the best elementary in the Twain/Edison pyramid. Test scores aside, people rave about. In the interest of full disclosure, we were in that school system and just moved because of schools (before our child reached school age). In my opinion, the elementary schools there are fine but I wasn't comfortable with the middle and high schools. Good luck. |
