The non-profit was created in order to get this money. It was created by a friend of his and his daughter in 2020 for this reason only. One of his aides' girlfriends also got 250k of COVID money for her non-profit. That guy recently resigned too. |
Update: “Anne and Robert Minard, two top staffers of former Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield, are poised to face criminal trials after a judge determined Thursday there was probable cause to believe allegations they stole more than $600,000 from political fundraising accounts. Ingham County District Court Judge Molly Hennessey Greenwalt issued a written decision, binding 21 criminal charges against the Minards, a married couple from Bath Township, over to Ingham County Circuit Court. Chatfield, a Republican from Levering, is separately facing 13 criminal charges as Nessel's office alleges that he and his wife, Stephanie Chatfield, misused nonprofit dollars to pay off a personal credit card and fund purchases at wineries and luxury retail stores while he was the House speaker. The Chatfields have also pleaded not guilty. Their preliminary examinations are scheduled to begin Oct. 31.” https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2024/09/12/judge-rules-there-is-probable-cause-to-believe-lee-chatfield-staffers-embezzled-political-cash/75188128007/ Chatfield also got his own thread since he was raping his sister-in-law for years, starting when she was a teenager. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1027407.page |

Ah yes of course the printer in charge of my campaign brochures is perfect for a million dollar Meals on Wheels contract.
“Orange County Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento asked the county’s internal audit staff Tuesday to specifically review a county contract with DTN Tech (DTN), after an LAist investigation found Rep. Michelle Steel (R-CA) awarded the vendor $1.2 million in taxpayer meal funds at the same time it was printing her campaign mailers. The directive from Sarmiento came during a Board of Supervisors meeting in Santa Ana. In a written statement following the meeting, Sarmiento said it was important to thoroughly assess potential issues and implement needed reforms. “The LAist article uncovered that a vendor, initially engaged in printing work during the campaign, was subsequently awarded a meal contract despite not being in the food industry,” Sarmiento said. “This situation underscores the importance of continuing our internal auditing efforts, as well as bringing in an independent external auditor.” Steel directed the money to DTN in 2020 when she was an Orange County supervisor running for Congress. The funds came from the federal government and were intended to help needy seniors access food as COVID deaths surged across the county. LAist’s reporting found that Steel agreed to use taxpayer funds to pay DTN far more than vendors billed in districts led by other supervisors. The meals in Steel’s program cost $24 per meal, three times as much as in two of the other districts.” https://laist.com/news/politics/review-michelle-steel-campaign-mail-vendor-dtn |
