For my first labor, I had an epidural. I didn't love it but thought it was ok. I no longer live in DC and at the hospital I am delivering at giving intrathecals is standard (not epis). Has anyone had one? What did you think about the overall pain management? Has anyone had both and can compare the two? TIA! |
What is it? |
OP here: It's a shot in the back of pain medication but doesn't completely numb you. It goes into the same space as the epidural but they don't leave anything in your back. It last for about 2-3 hours. You can still get up and move after the shot. |
I would ask to speak to an anesthesiologist so that he/she can explain the pros and cons of each to you. That's what they're trained to do! |
