Period 4 days late but negative pregnancy test

Could I be pregnant?

I'm usually regular so I'm baffled about what's going on. Seems tests should be pretty accurate at four days late, though.

What was the first day of your last period?
How long does your cycle typically last?

When this happened to me my doctor suggested I have a beta HCG test to insure there was no "inappropriate" pregnancy. I have a history of ectopic pregnancies however.

OP here. Thanks all. I hadn't considered an ectopic pregnancy. I'm actually traveling away from home so won't be able to get to my regular OB for at least a few weeks. Should I seek out an OB in the town where I'm currently staying, or could it wait?

Travel/stress can delay ovulation. I wouldn't worry yet.

I wouldn't worry about an ectopic either. You would still get a positive with a HPT. It's discovered later either thru an ultrasound, slow rising HCG numbers and/or pain in your pelvic area.

Were you on Clomid? Clomid extended my cycle a few days beyond what my "normal" cycle times. Has it been at least 17 days since ovulation? In that case, it's possible you could be pregnant, or you could have had a chemical.

It's more likely that it is a chemical pregnancy than an ectopic, in which case there is nothing you can do about it. With an ectopic, I think you would be having pain and bleeding and for some reason shoulder and back pain.
