My vagina is falling out

Anonymous
I tried posting this with a more normal subject line, but no one responded, so I am trying again:

Can anyone recommend a PT who deals with pelvic floor issues (I have a cystocele) in Bethesda or NW DC?

TIA

I had good luck with exercises from a HabIt pelvic floor DVD off of Amazon, but maybe my bladder prolapse wasn't as bad as yours.

Thanks for the tip. I will check it out.

I don't really know how bad it is, since I haven't seen a doc. Just self-diagnosed. Did you get diagnosed by a doc?

Yes, during pregnancy as part of a routine visit. It might be worth a visit to your ob/gyn just to see where you are.

Please go to the doctor. Do you have health insurance? If so, us it. If your tongue were coming out, would you go find a DVD to try to help you put it back in?

Do not do random exercises from a video tape. See a specialist. (I have the same problem, and I would have answered your post if I had seen it originally.)

This place does PT for this:

Also, I recommend seeing a urogynecologist. I had good luck here:

Second the "see a specialist" recommendation. I saw Nicolette Horbach at mid atlantic and she is great. Though a surgeon, no push for surgery.

Washington Hospital Center has a center for women's pelvic issues. I saw Dr. Gutman.

Op there are a lot of variances of what this can actually be, your uterus, your bladder, whatever
your ob/gyn can diagnose and send you to the proper places or do the proper procedures (Im not a doc but they can insert a pessary, etc)
womens health specialist is a great group

Not the OP here, but is there any specialist you can recommend that emphasizes PT instead of surgical measures. I have a slight prolapse, (not sure what kind) and my OBGYN sort of dismissed me when I brought it up to her. She said there is nothing that can be done about it until I am done having children.

OP here, thanks for all the responses.

I have an appt. with my OBGYN but it's not until mid-December, so I was just wondering if I should get a head start and go see a PT.

To 19:29 -- that really cracked me up. I am afraid to admit that I might actually try a DVD to get my tongue back in while I was waiting to see the doc!

Those of you who saw a specialist -- do you think I should bypass my OBGYN and try to make an appt. with a specialist?

Urogynecologists specialize in prolapse/pessary issues. So I would bypass your regular ob/gyn.

Both Horbach and Guttman are great.

Yes, I did internal and external work with Marisa Alonso. I did my work with a doctor and I think she expects to have doctor approval, but go ahead and get in touch with her. She was extremely effective but she does not play around and it was very hard/painful at times. But it worked and fast.

Can you get a faster appt than mid-December?!

Anyway, Marisa practices with several groups in the MDV area. I saw her at NRH.

My regular ob/gyn was pretty useless, gave me a pessary that was not the correct type for my prolapse.

See a specialist.

Also Dr, Luis Sanz. Very experienced and the *doctor's doctor.*
