Good places to buy (and try on) winter coats?

I'm looking for a good quality winter coat for work. Tried ordering online from Lands End and J Crew but found that either the styles / colors didn't match what I saw online or the fit wasn't right. Would like to find a store (or stores) that have a good selection of winter coats so I can actually see/hold/try on the coat in the store. The other wrinkle is that I'm a petite size, so also looking for that.

Any recommendations? FWIW, I went to Burlington Coat Factory, but was really disappointed in the selection.

I have always had success at Nordstrom and they are great about returns if you have an issue with fit, etc.
