Silly us for starting food while my DD is teething.
She is almost 6 months and we decided it was time to start solids. She also has 2 teeth and is definitely teething. We started her on rice cereal last night which she seemed to enjoy - but last night she was up more than she was down. I am assuming that this is teething as it did not appear as if there was an gasto related discomfort. Any guidance on what would signs be for food relaxed issues as opposed to teething related? We were hoping that adding solids would help her sleep through the night - I sure hope tonight will be better! |

Teething is pretty much an ongoing part of life for quite some time going forward. So you really can't plan around it.
It does not sounds like discomfort, babies do take some time to adjust to digesting solid foods. Your baby might act constipated (rice can contribute to that), gassy, or show signs of reflux. You can move to oatmeal if you think it is constipation. |

I found that my DS slept worse after we started rice cereal. I think his system was just adjusting. I would suggest just taking it slow and trying the solids earlier in the day (morning perhaps) in the beginning.
Oh, I agree that you can't plan around teething. My DS was teething for 3 months for his first set and has been teething for about 2 months with the ones that are hopefully coming in soon! |
