I did absolutely nothing today.

I can't believe I stayed home all day and did nothing. I work FT, and my day is usually planned to the minute. I rarely, rarely call in. I'm hardly ever sick and have guilt issues with playing hookie - usually! Today I was not tired, not sick, but have been craving alone time for so long, so I said F' it and called in. I can't believe how long it has been since I've been in complete solitude....probably years. But I am enjoying a day of nothing, silence, and being lazy around the house playing on my laptop and watching chic flix. I'm not cleaning, or cooking, and now that it's almost 3, I'm going to jump in the shower. Weird how doing nothing can be such a recharge!

Good for you. Mental health days can be very valuable. I took one last week, after a rather exhausting business trip. Dropped the baby off at daycare, came home, went back to sleep for a few hours, re-read an old favorite book... for me, though, the departure from my routine made me more tired. Not to say that I wouldn't do it again if I got the chance!

I get 30 days PTO at my job so I do what you describe about four times a year. Best ever days! Sometimes I just watch a stupid daytime show, sometimes I go to movies alone, sometimes shopping. It rejuvenates me to be alone now and then. Good for you, now find a way to plan for this from time to time!

I've done the same occasionally. When I need a mental health day, I tell my boss that I'm losing it and need a day of rest. My job is stressful and I work hard. He understands
