Dogfish Head Alehouse in Falls Church

Anonymous
I'm thinking this might be a fun place to bring DH and a bunch of kids for DH's birthday dinner. He is a big fan of Dogfish Ale beer.
We often go to Hong Kong Palace in the same shopping center, and I've seen this place and wondered it is any good. We're serious food people. How is the food? The menu looks like it has the potential to be pretty ordinary food, but I'm trying to find a festive, loud, kid-friendly place. Thanks!

The food was ok, nothing to write home about just ok

Yeah, food is just OK. Can you go to Matchbox in Merrifield (MOSAIC development)? Is that open yet?

DH and I went there with high hopes, food was average at best and beer was ridiculously expensive. (It's their own beer, shouldn't it be cheaper????)

We love going to Dogfish with the kids. It's noisy and busy so even if the kids are not perfectly behaved, no one cares. Food is fine and beers are tasty. If you are a serious foodie, then you might want to look elsewhere, but if you want a decent kid-friendly place, then Dogfish fits.

we like it a lot. Before kids DH and I usually ate at 'better' places (Ray's the Steaks/ Liberty Tavern/ Carlyle Grand)- and we are quite happy with dogfish. It is significantly better than the big chain restaurants like applebee's/ olive garden etc.

If by serious food you mean super interesting food- not going to work. But if by serious you mean tastes good I think it does.

It is very kid friendly- loud enough that noise blends in but not so loud that you can't hear each other. Also- the tables are spread out enough that you can easily pull a highchair up.

I would suggest to get there early-- sometimes they run out of highchairs before they run out of tables.

The food is just okay, the beer selection is obviously very good, but much more expensive than the real brewpub in Rehoboth. Part of the value of the brewpub in Rehoboth is that you can get the great beers for a good price, otherwise, why wouldn't I just go somewhere else that sells Dogfish Head beers for cheaper?
