Palin's education, can someone clarify?

Is there any info about why she switched schools so many times?

I heard $$ - she and her sibs paid their way through college.

$$ wouldn't explain why she went to Hawaii. If she was having money issues, she would have stayed in-state, I think.

They did a Bio type show on each of the candidates on CNN a week or two ago, and my recollection is based on that show. Basically, kids in Alaska don't typically get to do the whirlwind college tours that kids in the continental US do. And this was obviously before the internet. So, she decided to try Hawaii. I forget all the details, but it was basically that she was trying to find a place that she was happy. Alaska to Hawaii is a pretty big shock to the system and it didn't work for her. There was some community college experience in there, which I think was very much for financial reasons.

Former college prof here. I can't stand Palin but I hesitate to judge her based on her changing schools so many times. Granted, that many school changes is rare but it wouldn't be the first time a young person took awhile to get settled into a career.

I heard other students were spooked by the fact that she didn't blink. Sadly, as they turned against her, she was forced to move on. This experience laid the groundwork for the deep compassion she feels today for all suffering creatures except, of course, for that moose.

I went to 3 universities before getting my undergraduate degree. Then to 2 community colleges and one university while getting prerequisites for graduate/medical school, then one school for my graduate work.
I have 4 kids (including a baby), have been a PTA president, been involved in local politics, and I think I am totally at least as qualified as Palin to be VP! (which is to say, not at all)

I think you should consider moving to Alaska. Then, if Palin becomes VP, perhaps you can get appointed governor. 8)

Wait - she does not blink? Don't her eyes get dry?

Did she have Track while in college?

Should we be disturbed that she did not go to grad school?

She graduated in '87, married in '88, and Track is nineteen, so it all looks very traditional. I think expecting grad school would be applying a foreign set of cultural values to a small-town Alaska girl.

She barely has a degree; her husband didn't go to college, and neither of her children appear headed in that direction either. Go ahead, call me elitist; I don't care. This country is getting dumber by the day.

That resume would be concerning with any job application.

It's certainly not getting nicer by the day.

Does anyone know if there were any academic difficulties?
