Summertime - where do our prek - kindergartners go?

This will be our first summer in the school system and I am at a complete loss as to what do about childcare? Can anyone recommend summer camps they've used or other alternatives accessible from Chevy Chase DC? I'd be particularly interested in something that is Spanish speaking. Thanks.

Since posting this I have discovered some options. The only one for little kids in Spanish I found was the Washington International School. It has language immersion camps for Spanish, French, Chinese, maybe some others.

We're also going to sign up for the Lowell School. It sounds like a more traditional camp with swimming and bugs and the like.

All the private schools in the area offer some option. We've also looked into Headfirst, Playfirst. This one seems sporty and includes the last weeks of August, which not many others do.

One last thing we looked at, although not very seriously as it's the wrong direction for us, is Montgomery County camps. They sent us a catalog (which is also online); there seemed to be some options for younger kids.

If you can do a half day there are even more options like Discovery Kids, the Zoo, or the Audobon Society. I spoke with the woman who runs the Audobon camp and really liked her, but we need all day.

Good Luck!

Check out the other forums -- summer camps and older kids -- there's a lot of summer camp info for young kids, some relating to pre-K age.

Sidwell, Beauvoir and NPS also run great programs - some have language included in younger programs
