We're looking for a restaurant to celebrate our niece's 6th birthday next weekend. Five adults and 4 kids. The ideal location would be a princess themed restaurant with princess waitresses serving pink, glittery pizzas. Knowing such a place doesn't exist in the greater DC area -- I turn to DCUM for help. Any recommendations for a fairly casual place that serves decent enough food for the adults to enjoy, where a 6 year old can also have a fun evening?

Why don't you go for tea? It's usually served in the afternoon, but they serve the individual pots, itty bitty sandwiches, the petit-fours, etc. on the teared dishes. It can be kind of a girly-girl experience.
Here are some suggestions on where to go: http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/best-bets/afternoon-tea,87170.html The Jefferson Hotel does a tea: http://www.jeffersondc.com/dining-lounge As does the Park Hyatt: http://parkwashington.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels-parkwashington/entertainment/dining_detail.jsp;jsessionid=5B741B52AE112ABA0717BC1727D2F28B.atg08-prd-atg3?itemDesc=fboutlet&itemId=1003277 |

I agree that tea would be fun.
Where are you located? In NW, we often go to Cactus Cantina, Cafe Deluxe, Medium Rare and Comet Pizza with our kids. |

California Pizza Kitchen does fun kids' parties. I went to a fun party at Comet Ping Pong too.
Guess if any friends have allergies they should be extra careful. We had a bday party at A&J with dim sum and it was a blast. |
| Pete's A pizza (or however they spell it) in Tenleytown? It seems kid friendly (in that there are tons whenever I'm there), has a couple big family tables and how can you go wrong with pizza and icecream? |
