Anti-Trump bias in Montgomery County

I promise you that you are associating with many Trump voters, all the time. They just don't talk about it around you.

He puts America and Americans (including LEGAL immigrants) first.
He grew the greatest economy the world has ever seen before the pandemic.
He is against cancel culture and is for free speech.
He is for capitalism and deregulation which leads to job growth. The lowest African American unemployment rate in history.
He is against the entrenched DC swamp and elitism, he cares about Middle America and workers. He speaks to people. He believes in the American Dream.
He tells it like it is with no filter. He supports LEGAL immigration, and Strong Borders.
He sent the stock market soaring.
He is against the corrupt Welfare state and promotes jobs and tax cuts.
Shall I go on?

Meanwhile none of you have answered why Montgomery County elects socialist leftists to its local government.

He did none of these things.

I also don’t want to put America first. I want to be part of the world. Screw that America first thing. But Trump tends to put Putin first.
He didn’t grow the economy. He lagged Obama and then failed to take action to protect it when Covid hit.
Don’t talk to me about cancel culture and free speech — he literally urged violence against people who disagree with him.
He isn’t really for capitalism unless he benefits.
Regulations are good.
He needs a goddamn filter because he is offensive and senile.

OP, I live, work and have kids in school in MoCo. DH and I are enthusiastic Trump supporters, and although we don't advertise the fact, we don't deny it if the conversation turns to this subject. I have no idea what people are saying behind our backs, of course, but I can honestly say that none of us has experienced social fall-out, at least so far.

We just keep going, keep being neighborly and involved in the community, and try to stay away from divisive topics in general.

Here, it's as if people just ASSUME you're against Trump. It's been like that since 2016. To be accepted into fine society you have to be liberal, politically correct, a Democrat, and against Trump. Neighbors are cliquish and don't want to hang out with you if it is known that you support Trump. Worse of all, people just casually make digs at President Trump and assume you'll go along with it. This is seen all over society whether it's schools that allow students to protest against guns but not against abortion, or casual dining room conversations where Trump is the butt of the joke or an icebreaker being like how horrible Trump is, or a small business selling "Maryland gifts" has Trump toilet paper. Do people not. get dissenting opinions, and why is it just assumed that everybody hates Trump? It's just so casually assumed that nobody could possibly support Trump and be their neighbor.

We asked a family to Bubble with us during quarantine and they declined after I finally got a Trump bumper sticker. It's disgusting.

Sorry, not sorry for my bias against racist rapists.

It's mind boggling that anyone thinks you can support Trump and still be nice in other ways. No, that makes no sense. If you support a complete and total asshole for President of the United States -- and asshole is putting it mildly -- then no, you are not nice in other ways.

I no longer allow myself to drink with these “liberals”-it’s too dangerous.

Are you using “populist” to mean white nationalist?

+1000000000000

This. This. This.

I'm tired of being called racist just because I am white. We employ people of all colors in our business with top wages.

What a kind hearted, open minded individual you are, allowing non whites to work for you.

I'm not sure why the eyeroll? We hire the best person for the job. We've spent over a million dollars in payroll over the last four years. How many jobs have you created?
We have not had to cut hours even with covid.

Do you believe in systemic racism?

Guess not. You should get used to people calling you a racist.

Yes, an a-hole cut me off this morning and it was no big surprise after I saw the Trump bumper sticker.

DP here. And that's fine. I'm not about to pry. But if they declare themselves, sorry, I will do my best to distance myself.

+1, I and several other households on our street in Kensington will be voting right along with you. There’s nothing special or noteworthy about where I live, so I have every reason to think that other streets in my neighborhood and every other neighborhood like it are the same.

We just don’t put out yard signs, because unhinged lunatic liberals in the neighborhood would vandalize our homes and cars. But that’s what we expect from them. Look no future than some of the posts in this very thread.

+2 your hate has silenced our voices but not our votes.

Ok, good for you, then what's with all the whining. You are free to vote for whom you want, and you are also free to socialize with whomever you want. The same goes for other people. Once again, it's not about your politics.

I choose not to socialize with racists. I also choose not to socialize with Trumpsters. I do however socialize with real Rs who also hate Trump.

+1 When OP put a Trump bumper sticker on the car, that was a public declaration. I find OP's post ironic.

So.... how do you explain your support for Biden? Or, is Tara Reid just making it all up? And his work with KKK Senators in the '80s? That's all OK too?

Yes, dears. We all know you're the "I got mine" types. That's why we don't like you.

The only vandalizing I've seen happening is by Trump supporters, from the Proud Boys using protests as an excuse to loot, shoot, and blame it on 'liberals' to the teenagers who ripped up my elderly mother's Democratic yard sign. Perhaps they were even your kids. It's not surprising you judge everyone else by your own kind, I suppose.

FYI, exactly no one including your fellow liberals, believes this lunacy that it’s white nationalists pretending to be BLM that are committing all of this violence and destruction at these riots. You can stop spinning this fairytale, exactly no one believes it.

Trump is a nationalist.. from his own mouth.

We should all be nationalists!

He didn’t say white nationalist – he said nationalist. That someone who believes in their country, who believes in putting their own country first, who loves their country, and believes that it is a unique and special place. I feel the same way about America, and I am proudly nationalistic.

The better question is, why aren’t you?

I'm going to chug the liberal tears that flow on November 4th. Aside from my wedding and the birth of my children, it will be the greatest day of my life. I can not wait to watch you losers fall.

You people hold the guns and encourage your children to murder, even praise murderers as heroes. You believe unhinges QAnon conspiracies. And we’re the ones who are unhinged?

Here’s the difference between you, and me....you’d think nothing of trashing my yard sign (if I had one) or keying my car if it had a Trump sticker. Because that sort of behavior is ok with you. And it’s not ok with me.

On the other hand, you’d never lift a finger to protect your life, your family, your home, or your community from those who would burn and loot it, whereas I would be willing to pick up a rifle, point it at that threat, and do my best to kill them.

That’s the fundamental difference between us. And if that scares you, that says more about who you are than who I am.
