Boots on the ground time?

Yes. World War III.

Are you guys heading down to the recruiting station today?

My original post was really a treaty-oriented question, rather than "finally, this is the excuse we've been waiting for."

The claim was issued in written format in French and Arabic, and in audio format, all via established IS channels, according to the BBC's jihadist media expert Peter King.

The statement claims that "eight brothers wearing explosive vests and assault rifles targeted carefully chosen locations in the heart of the French capital".

It goes on to call Paris the "capital of abomination and perversion".

"In a holy attack facilitated by Allah, a group of believers and soldiers of the caliphate – may Allah give it might and victory – targeted the capital of abomination and perversion, the one that carries the banner of the cross in Europe, Paris."

Serious question - is this just some nonsense terrorist rhetoric or do they really have some specific belief that Paris is really a terrible place for some really specific reason?

Well, France isn't friendly toward those who cover. hasn't been since the early 2000s, I believe

The country preaches separation of church and state. nothing wrong with that - unless you're an extremist

Not the PP but my husband has been fighting these sorts of guys for a decade through countless hairraising deployments. Only regret is not prosecuting this effort in a fight it to win it fashion. We simply have to decide what we are doing here, and then do it. Fight or withdraw. Half gestures are a waste of everyone's time and dedication.

I'm no intelligence expert, but when the enemy issues a statement afterward stating there were 'eight' brothers in the attack, I'm pretty confident it wasn't eight.

Oh, and you're welcome.

From Al-Azhar--denouncement of the Paris attacks:

Head of Cairo’s Al-Azhar mosque
The head of Sunni Islam's leading seat of learning, Cairo's Al-Azhar, decried the "hateful" terrorist attacks and urged global unity against extremism.

"The time has come for the world to unite to confront this monster," said Ahmed al-Tayyeb.

Yes, many of them truly believe this. "Cities of sin". But not just Paris. Cities where people drink alcohol, women are educated and sometimes scantily clad, atheists are not stoned to death, freedom to "insult" anyone or any figure, the list goes on. These cities don't have a right to exist in those minds.
Let's not even go into their hypocrisies .... Bottom line - there is no common ground to be found with the die hard ISIS fighters. None. Not now, not ever.

Oh God. It is now being reported that one of the suicide bombers came through Greece as a migrant, on the Syrian passport that was found with his body.

As someone living in Europe, this is horrifying. How many others came, and when are they going to resurface?

I heard one witness say that the terrorists spoke perfect French, which may translate into "homegrown."

There is also a TGV train that derailed in France about a good hour ago? But I don't know, if it is at all related, and have only seen an aerial picture - Alsace region of France.
