No Kings 3 on March 28

Just got back from our No Kings in DC - lots of stuff still going on, all around the city. Loved the energy and cameraderie.

But I do need to call one thing out... some folks there were either trolling or stupid, carrying Iran regime flags. I'm sorry but if you're anti-authoritarian then don't be carrying the flag of Iranian authoritarians.

People doing that, if they weren't trolling, have fallen into the dumb trap of binaries. It's fine if you don't like Trump and don't like Israel but that doesn't suddenly somehow magically make the other side in this shitty war "good guys." You can't say "No Kings, Down with Authoritarians" and then be hypocritically waving the flag of an authoritarian Supreme Leader.

I understand what you are saying, but I think it’s up to Iranians to choose their leadership and government policies. Not us.
I’m not sure who was carrying those flags and signs.

There are lots, and lots, and LOTS of ethical American Jews. I have so much respect for them - it takes a lot of courage to speak truth when a lot of the messaging is to the contrary.

There were only a handful of Islamic Regime flags at one corner of the rally that I saw. Yes, it's up to the people of Iran to choose their next leadership and government. But don't be trying to smuggle support for a dynasty of authoritarian Ayatollahs into a NoKings rally hoping to gain support. Doing that shows me you missed the point.

No rebels are "taking back" the Islamic Republic flag. Some are using the old Lion-and-Sun flag, some are using a plain flag without the emblem in the center, but nobody is "reclaiming" the Islamic Republic "Allah"/crescent/sword/tulip flag.
