Tornado is headed towards Germantown and Clarksburg (11:45a)

It says: "* At 1129 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Poolesville, moving northeast at 45 mph."

You are an idiot. If you keep reading it says that rotation was confirmed. They don’t confirm actual path and level until after the storm, but if you’ve been in one in this area before, you know what that warning combined with looking at live radar actually means. And you know what the aftermath of trees and buildings damaged will look like.

Hallie Wells and Baker MS were in weather shelter in place until 12 p.m.

Wow, take a deep breath. Calling someone an "idiot" is not going to prevent damage.

Glad I kept my kids home from school today. I did not want them caught up in this logistical mess.

Between 3-6pm. Do people really not know how to look this up? Capital Weather Gang? Any of the local news stations/websites?

To be fair, some meteorologists were predicting as early as 11 AM and I think some of the forecasting has changed, but it’s a lot to keep up with because so many opinions on timing and it’s changed from yesterday to this am.

11am was the mini preview cell.

I’m the Blair poster and I am fully aware of the typical early dismissal schedule. However the message MCPS sent did not say schools would follow their regular early dismissal schedule - it said that high school would finish at 12 noon.

9th period happened today. That was probably a bad call, considering the weather.

It was completely fine.

Is there another round of storms or was that it?

Clearly not for everyone? Did you see the other replies in this thread about shelter-in-place calls and HS dismissal being disrupted? Or Clemente MS dismissal being shtshow?

The courts are closing early and OPM said all employees leave 2 pm, but people think MCPS overreacted.
