Question about perishables and power outages

Anonymous
It is going to be pretty chilly the next few days. Would it be okay to put food out on the screened in porch, something like yogurt? I assume things I usually refrigerate like peppers and apples and carrots will be fine on the counter.

Will milk be alright for a while outside? Eggs? Cheese? I wouldn't chance it with meat or chicken but just wondering people's opinions.

It's going to be above 40 outside so probably not.

We bought ice for our cooler. We've gathered all the stuff we want from the fridge in one spot so we can get it out quickly and then keep the fridge closed.

Fingers crossed...

I would leave everything in your fridge. They stay cold for a while even after the power goes out. Just minimize the number of times you open the door:

(You could freeze yogurt and let it thaw in the fridge.)
