| We have numerous tall trees surrounding our house, they appear to be healthy. If you were us, would you sleep in the basement tonight or is that not necessary? |
| Basement. Better safe than sorry. |
| Thanks - that is what I was thinking to, but my husband thinks I am being ridiculous... |
| We basically have a forest in our backyard and are not risking it. We'll be in the basement!! |
| Actually Monday night is the biggest risk in this storm. |
| I was also thinking we'd "sleep" in the basement tonight. I probably won't catch even a wink of sleep down there. I only sleep well in my own, comfortable bed! |
| I knew Monday is supposed to be worse, that is a definite basement night (OP here) |
| I had thought only tomorrow night, but I was just outside and the wind has picked up a lot. So...maybe tonight too. |
He can sleep upstairs then. |
| No basement. It's not a tornado. |
We know it's not a tornado, but we also know that trees often fall down when it rains a lot and when there is wind. The rain softens the ground which is conducive to falling trees. |
| We'll probably do tomorrow night downstairs but not tonight. |
Just curious - do you have big trees over your house? I think people who do think differently about storms. |
| We are sleeping in our rooms tonight, and the basement tomorrow. |
OP here - I agree - that is what I told him, but I think if the rest of us are all downstairs - he'll come too. Luckily the kids think it is a cool adventure. |
