PSA: More changes to Amazon

Anonymous
I know there was a thread recently about the changes to Amazon subsctibe and save.

I wanted to add another I just uncovered that you should make note of - especialy as we approach the holiday season.

Amazon now has a category called "Add on item". Here is the description - This item is available because of the new Add-on program
The Add-on program allows Amazon to offer thousands of low-priced items that would be cost-prohibitive to ship on their own. These items ship with qualifying orders over $25 and are eligible for FREE shipping.

The thing that I find confusing on this categorization is there are a few variations of an item I was looking at (all for less than $6). Some of them were Prime eligible - others were "Add-on".

Just be aware of this new "feature" that Amazon is offering.

Something else new: I ordered some diapers via Subscribe and Save (I keep subscribing and canceling bc I don't want to figure out how many diapers I use) earlier this week- guess when I am guaranteed to get them by?

November 21!

Today is October 26!

I used to get these diapers in 3 days! If they are not at least shipped by early next week I am canceling my order.

Yeah, they shifted subscribe and save to be one shipping day per month per account. Mine usually come about a week early.

This is because they changed things so you get ALL your s&s items on the same day each month. You can go in and change your delivery date so you get things earlier in the month, and thrn later you can change it back if you want. If you dont mind getting your other november items earlier too.

Don't hold your breath pp. I ordered diapers through subscribe and save at the end of September -- they just arrived earlier this week.

With NEW subscribe and save (and if you keep cancelling, instead of skipping the shipment, you new order is new) it takes 3-4 weeks. That's how it's been since I started it, over a year ago. Once you get your initial shipment, your shipment day of the month is consistent. If you want the diapers in 3 days, you can order them like normal, but without the S&S discount.

I don't know why people keep complaining about Amazon and their evils. It's a business and they have to make money. If you can't deal with that, then shop somewhere else. They're still the best marketplace I've ever found and I have never had a reason to complain.

With regards to the add-on items, half the time they ship them separately. I don't get how that saves them any money then.

I'm confused about the add-on items: did they discontinue Super Saver shipping for all orders over $25?

My issue with all of these changes is the lack of communication. I discovered the change to subscribe & save when I went to order something I needed ASAP so it was a little annoying to have to re-do the order. It would be nice if they would send a notice telling people who participate in S&S about the change. Then again, communication is not amazon's strong point so it's not a huge surprise that they would just make these changes without telling customers.

Quite honestly the way they were doing s&s made no sense from their perspective as you could change the order or order more anytime, so it was essentially just a discount program with no restrictions.

I think the goal of the add-on program is to get you to buy more stuff so that you meet the $25 threshhold.

The add on items piss me off. That is why I pay for prime. S I can order a $3 item ifi want to and not pay for shipping.

The add-on items are things they didn't used to carry at all. So I don't mind it.

I agree. I will probably cancel my prime soon. It's just not worth it anymore.

And now shipping - I ordered something this week on Oct 30th. I have Prime. Expected delivery was updated today to 11/5.

I understand part of the country is having issues due to Sandy. Either communicate that I will not be getting it in 2 days - or get it here.
I came home today expecting something for a birthday party tomorrow and now I am left scrambling.
