options for inexpensive, one-level living?

Anonymous
We may need to move my parents to the DC area. Unfortunately, they don't have a lot of resources. Any suggestions for one-level living, but perhaps with a basement for storage, that is as inexpensive as this area can be? They'd prefer a 'countrified' setting, but they also can't be that isolated. Thanks so much for any suggestions.

lots of 55 and greater places around here.

define "limited resources."

Are we talking spend down to Medicaid here? Assisted living?

I'm in the same situation. However, my mother would be more comfortable about an hour + away from the metro area. However, I do want to show her options closer in. She has SS & a modest pension. Has a decent amount saved and can sell her current home. She drives, shops, cleans, etc. Slower these days though.
