Anyone remember Shuman's Bakery in Old Town?

All of my childhood cakes were from there and they were excellent.

Now it's a Firehook. I think Shuman's has been gone for 10 years.

Anyone know where similar cakes are around here? Definitely not into grocery store cakes...

I remember Shuman's, although I never bought their cakes. My favorite cakes in Old Town are from Bittersweet. Not cheap, but moist, moist, moist.

Remember the jelly roll cake? I seem to recall someone saying that they still sold them, maybe ordered on line somewhere. I can't say that I loved the jelly roll cake, but certainly nostalgic.

OP here. I'd forgotten I started this thread!

I did know you can order the jelly roll cakes and my parents still do. I don't care for them, but love the nostalgia and the aesthetic of seeing them all lined up in the window in red and green paper (or, do they do that anymore)?

I love their buttercream simple cakes. Miss them!
