This article is pretty hilarious and I think will tide you guys over until the hive puts the mail in the coffin: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thecut.com/amp/2020/12/unpacking-the-drama-around-hilaria-baldwins-spanish-accent.html |
Is the podcast still available? |
| The problem is once CNN is on it, it can’t be silenced. PR team wasted so much time on dcum that they dropped the ball working on the major news media. They probably had no idea this would get so big, because they don’t understand how this farce was to hurtful to actual immigrants. So fun to be an immigrant, when it’s convenient! |
"In a 2018 cover interview, the yoga instructor told Hola! magazine that she was born in Spain and “has made certain to raise her children with her native language, Spanish.” Her biography on her agency’s website also claims, “Baldwin was born in Mallorca, Spain and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.” She also regularly speaks with a Spanish accent and during a cooking segment on the Today show seemed to forget the English word for cucumber. " |
| What would make ya’ll happy here? Should Alec immediately divorce her? What would make you all sleep better at night? Should we continue to bully her into oblivion like we are middle school girls? What should happen? Stop feeding this train wreck. Go tend to your own. |

Hilaria is an inspiration.
I have been to Paris twice and pronounce croissant with an accent. See me. |
You first. |
| YES YES YES!!! Vanity fair!!! Sorry brb need to go read. I hope it’s good. You guys we’ve been on this for months. We beservr a byline somewhere..... |
Hmm 🤔 what could she possibly do? She could: Admit that she lied; Apologize to her husband; Apologize to her fans; Apologize to all of the people she duped in interviews; Apologize to all of the immigrants who don’t get to decide when to conveniently have an accent; Leave social media for awhile so that people will forget about her. That’s for starters at least. But I get it; it’s 2020 and everyone thinks they’re Donald Trump and never have to apologize for being a lying monster. |
Agree. It is a certain age and mentality that finds joy in this; not my generation for sure. |
How does Hillary Baldwin affect YOU? Get a life. Who cares if her life is a charade? The only one who should maybe care is Alec. Go get a life, this is such nonsense. |
| I personally think she posed as a Spanish yoga instructor, which is how she met Alec, claimed to be unaware of who he was because she was “Spanish,” which probably made him even more attracted to her. She posed as this exotic woman who loved him with no knowledge of how rich he was. She claimed to love him for who he was as a person and “not his money” etc. As their relationship progressed she had to come clean to him but she kept it up for the media because that’s how she originally presented herself. As time went on she started to lose the accent and I think she thought she got away with it, but on a deeper level it’s like she had a psychological need to be different / exciting. I’m assuming she started to notice she got more attention with the accent, but my guess is he asked her to soften it / not play into it as much because he was aware of how ridiculous it is. |
I don't think people like her ever "come clean" but who knows? He was obsessed with Salma and she made herself into a cut-rate Salma. Sad because I'm sure Hillary actually had a lot to offer on her own, but I guess she didn't think so. |
How does this affect me? I watched my mother be ridiculed for having an accent my entire life. People acting like having a foreign accent makes you sexy or exotic is deeply insulting and belittles what my mother and other immigrants went through. I think people like this should be ashamed of themselves and this whole fiasco, while very funny, also makes me deeply angry. I am really tired of the various white people shenanigans of 2020. |
