Where to get a 55-60 inch TV and wall mount?

Anonymous
Seems like sales and discounts are everywhere - any particulars from those who have BTDT? Looking for the TV and someone to mount it (over fireplace, so a bit complicated, esp since the TV will be on the large side for mounting). Any good/bad experiences with either products or installation? Deals you know of?

Why would you mount a TV over a fireplace? Seems like both would compete as the focal point of a room.

Another one telling you to rethink over the fireplace. That large of a TV over the fireplace will be up very high & uncomfortable to watch.

Isn't that a popular place to hang them?

I just had this done and if you use the right person to do it, they make it look great. The bracket shoould be a low profile one. Don't get one that swings out unless you have a recessed area. The cords and all are in the all and you can't see any of them. The components are downstairs and it is connected to the speakers and has surround sound connected to our internet, phone, and all. The kids love skyping grandparents on such a huge screen.

For a TV that size the room has to be huge, try a 46 inch call Bethesda Systems, it isn't cheap but they know what they are doing.

Are fireplaces common in the ghetto?

We got a tv from HH Gregg about a year ago. It was on sale and they were willing to go lower to close the sale. They sell the brackets at the store. We used their installation service and the guys were great (and reasonable).

agreed. You want your tv eye level to the couch.

OP here - It's a big room, the fireplace is low, etc. I know some prefer the aesthetics of other placements but I've never heard it called 'ghetto' - gotta love DCUM! Not sure there are a lot of ghettos with fireplaces and flat-screens mounted over them.

This is the idea (will see if it pastes right):

Ideas about my original post are welcome!
