New Hope in NY

Anonymous
Has anyone used or looked into the New Hope Fertility Clinic in NY? We are shopping for clinics and their philosophy best meets ours - natural or low stim IVFs, only 1 embryo implanted per cycle, no IV anesthestia for retrievals, etc. Plus, they are willing to do this on older women with elevated FSH (like me!). They claim their success rates are almost the same and the high stim protocols, and their prices are 1/2 a normal IVF cycle because of the way they do it. From what I know, no clinic in DC does this. (I know Dominion does natural cycle IVF, but only for women with low FSH levels.)

I had a consultation recently with Dr. Nancy Durso at Metro Fertility and she does low stimulation IVF. I'm not sure about your other concerns but she may be worth talking to in order to save yourself the stress of treatment out of town. www.metrofertility.com
Good luck!

Thanks - I'll check them out.

PP - Are you thinking of using Dr. Durso?

I'm not the PP, but I just scheduled an consult with Durso after reading about her here. I just had a second consult with Dominion (after having all the testing) and while they said I'd be a candidate for natural cycle, I really did not like Dr. Dimattina. So I'm looking for other options.

to 09/25/2008 10:44, this is 09/23/2008 16:23 Poster. I was considering Dr. Durso but ultimately decided on Shady Grove instead. I was happy that there is someone out there that does low stimulation and lower cost IVF, but due to some other issues (unrelated to Dr. Durso) we are hoping to qualify for the shared risk program at Shady Grove instead. I very much liked her and her staff and I have a friend that goes to her and really likes her. I didn't bother with Dominion because my referring doctor thought they would be too paternalistic for me - I'm a very forthright, well-informed patient that asks tons of questions!

PP- sounds like I should have gotten advice from your referring doc before going to Dominion. When I questioned their plan to go directly to using ICSI because I have some concerns about its safety (not to say that I have ruled out using it eventually or that I think it is a bad idea, I just didn't want to start with ICSI given that we had no reason to think that regular natural cycle might not work. Plus I do epidemiology type research for a living so I know how hard it is to do studies on this stuff) Dr D said "well I am the doctor and you have to listen to my advice." Sorry to hijack the post a bit, I just needed to vent about that Good luck to you all!!!

OP here. Thanks for the info on Dr. Durso. I'm too old to qualify for shared risk programs, so the lower cost of the natural IVF is one part of its appeal. We're still hoping we can do it on our own, but it is nice to have other options.
