Friends Community School Vs. CHDS

We are looking at both of these schools for middle school (6th) for my DS. We are going to be touring both soon. Are there others out there that looked at both? What were your thoughts on middle school programs at the schools? What would be the chances of getting FA at either school with a HHI of around $180? What is the homework load like for middle schoolers at both schools?

FCS is about $10K less than CHDS, so I have to assume you would have a lower chance of receiving aid there, but even if you got aid only at CHDS, FCS would likely still wind up being cheaper.

CHDS does not have deep fund for financial aid for a HHI such as yours. I would doubt that they could give you any help. With a tuition of about $25K-ish, you'd have to weigh that against FCS which comes in at about $16K-ish, and you definitely would not get aid from them either.

That said, they are both excellent schools. We applied to both of them when we were looking 2 years ago and thought they were both amazing. Our HHI is a little lower than yours (160's) and neither school granted us aid, though they both offered us an acceptance. Good luck!
