Right way to end house keeper services?

Anonymous
We've had a housekeeper come ever two weeks for about four months and although she's terrific, it's just not helping enough to justify the cost. What's the polite way to end her services? I was thinking about calling her to tell her, havin her come one more time so that she has the income she planned and offering to recommend her on a listserve I'm on in the neighborhood so she can find someone else. Is that ok? How is this normally done?

Provide a letter of reference?

I told mine that we had to cut back on expenses and would love for her to work one more month and recommend her. She already had plenty of families so declined that. On her last visit I tipped her an extra week's pay.

Tell her when she finishes working the next time, explain about the listserve, thank her for all her hard work, and give her a $20 tip. You never know when you'll call her again when your financial circumstances change.

they usually do 2 houses a day, she won't miss you.

Thanks. I guess I'm thinking about this too hard

It's only been four months, I would not go overboard with tipping extra or making recommendations. Give her a couple weeks notice so she can replace you.

"Gracias, adios."
