What grade is your child currently? Are you in fcps, Loudon County, Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church...?

There are lots of smart-advanced-gifted kids in this area. Probably any school will give your child a peer group, provided the families/parents are well-educated, employed and involved. Finding a school without advanced kids in this area is probably more difficult than finding a school with other advanced students.

We have been impressed with both our center school and base school. Parents we know in the neighboring schools say the same thing.

Any of the three powerhouse schools in McLean (Churchhill, Springhill or Chesterbooke) would be fine

Any center based aap program in FCPS would be a good option. Haycock advance pass rates on the sol are usually very high within the region. That would be in the Haycock/Longfellow/McLean pyramid. If your child is very advanced in math, Haycock and Longfellow regularly win the local math competitions. Longfellow is one of the top two feeder schools to Thomas Jefferson for high school.

Are you the same person who calls these school in other forums the BIG THREE. Has any one else that actually goes to these schools ever heard them as being a powerhouse or a BIG THREE? Our kids go to one of them and I think you are giving the schools a stuck up, snarky, in your face label by calling them this. They are good schools but give it a rest.

If you DC is - 3 grade levels ahead, jump ahead a grade or 2. My uncle (dad's side) and my mom jumped ahead 1 -2 grades. If not, then your child is probably like A LOT of kids in this rea, very bright, and will do fine in any of the AAP centers.

OP,

If your dc is not yet in ES, please wait until they are to make assumptions about grade level.

This. If your child is truly 2-3 grade levels ahead in all subjects, this will be revealed in the testing, and it's likely your child's school will approach you about grade acceleration (skipping). This was a recent post about this very issue.

Agree on ALL subjects before skip grades.
If it's only one, say math, 2-3 grade ahead, and reading is not, eventually the reading comprehension will drag him/her math down.
