Mi Palacio is a Spanish immersion daycare center based in the basement level of the Trinity Episcopal Church on Piney Branch Road in
Takoma DC. Marisol Espinosa, the director of Mi Palacio, told me this morning that there is one opening in the preschool program for a child age 2.5 - 5. Our twins are 3 and have been attending since they were 18 months old. The preschool program is small, with only a handful of children, which means there is a lot of personal attention. This month they have been learning about Fall, Hispanic Heritage Month (we had a wonderful party at the center with families last Friday to celebrate), and about the body (coloring their bodies, learning names for body parts). We have been very happy at Mi Palacio, and the caregivers there are warm, caring, and very dedicated to the kids. Our kids go outside at least twice per day for walks in the neighborhood, to play at a nearby park, or in a small patio connected to the center that is open to the outside. They also go to the Takoma DC library regularly for story time. They do arts and crafts, reading, free play time, and they have circle time with Spanish songs our children frequently sing at home. At age 3, our children speak Spanish about as well as they speak English (and we don't speak Spanish at home). They are going on a field trip to the zoo with the toddler and preschool program at the end of October. Details: - One opening for a child age 2.5 - 5 - Full Spanish immersion program - Hours of operation are 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. - Location: 7005 Piney Branch Rd., N.W. Washington, D.C 20012 (basement of Trinity Episcopal Church, a.k.a. "stone church".) The entrance to the daycare is on Dahlia Street. The new center is about 3 blocks from the Takoma Park Metro.
