Not the most pressing question in the world, but I'm interested in some moms' perspectives.
I've received 4 supersoft, wonderful blankets for my soon-to-be-newborn. I also have loads of receiving blankets (almost ten I think) and the little quilt that came with my bedding set, and two hand-knit blankets. Is that excessive? Should I return one of those supersoft blankets and get something else instead? Or will I be glad that I have so many? |
| Keep the soft blankets! We have never used the quilt that came with the crib set. We use the receiving blankets sometimes (in the beginning, we used them to swaddle, and now we use them in the car and at the doctor's office to go from the scale back to the examining room). But, seriously, we use the soft blankets all the time. They get dirty fast, so I don't think you'll be sorry to have what at this point seems like way too many. Congrats and best of luck to you with the new baby! |
| I agree -- keep the soft blankets. We bought about 5 washable/reusable incontinence pads from a medical supply store online (I think the brand name was Cascade). We put the soft blanket on top of the incontinence pad which allowed us to put the baby down on the floor for airtime (i.e., no diaper) which is VERY important to avoid diaper rash. It was nice and soft on top, and waterproof underneath so no worries about anything leaking. |
| The soft blankets are good. The receiving blankets have a limited use, mostly for swaddling. But if you like swaddling, you will probably want to get swaddlers such as the Swaddle Me. |
