White House Garden Tour ---> Anyone been?

Anonymous
We have tickets to a White House Garden Tour tomorrow morning. Has anyone been? Wondering what the dress would be and how long it takes. TIA!

Are you part of the People's Garden?

We went in the Spring. Dress is whatever you want -- it's pretty crowded, and of course people are wearing a range of styles from casual to a bit dressy. We opted a polos and khaki shorts for DS and DH and I wore a casual cotton dress. You're mostly on walkways, so you don't need to worry about footwear too much (unlike the Easter Egg Roll).

I was pleasantly surprised at how organized and efficient it was. Yes, the lines were long, but there were separate lines for each timed entrance that were easy to locate and well organized. Our line was admitted on time as well. It's somewhat crowded once in the actual garden area (especially up by the entrance to the WH and Rose Garden), but not too bad, and people are pretty courteous. To be honest, I was dreading it a bit, but actually enjoyed the experience a lot (and that was with a 2-year-old). Have fun!

Funny, my friend just posted about this on FB. Do you have a DC named after a character in a book everyone reads in high school?

Re-upping an old post with the same
question! Do you need to dress nicely for the White House Garden tour? Our family is planning to go tomorrow and would appreciate some advice.

No, you do not need to dress nicely. I mean, I would not look like a slob. But, especially with the weather, you should dress so you can be warm and dry.

How long it takes sort of depends on when you go, how crowded, and how quickly they are pushing people along. We went early 9:30 or 10:30 and there was only one spot where people were funneled through so that it got a bit jammed up and they were urging everyone to keep moving. Otherwise, we were able to take our time. Even so, we were finished in an hour or less.

No but a lot of people dress "spring"ish because it's a great photo opp. What PP said about like polos, potton dress etc is the norm. Maybe a little more bundled up as it's not that warm.
