Can I choose our high school in arlington?

We are slated for yorktown, but I think we rather go to W&L. My kid is partial to math and computers or STEMS. Do I have options? Thanks.

Apply for the IB program at W-L, but with both oversubrscirbed I don't think you can just change schools

Math and science is better at Yorktown anyway.

I am thinking of computer and technology not just math & science scores.

W-L, Yorktown, and Wakefield have the same AP classes. W-L also has IB and unique technology, engineering, and GIS classes (which is what the OP is probably referring to).

W-L is the only high school not taking regular transfers because it is overcrowded, but the school is still taking about 80 IB transfers a year. Check with W-L about IB transfers because there are orientation meetings and deadlines.

Yes, this is what we want. W-L is better suited for DC's interest. Do you think the boundary changes will happen within the next two years? I hope so, we should be in W-L boundary, we live closer to it than Yorktown.

The new high school boundaries won't be decided until around 2014. But right now the only way to transfer is through IB.
