I am 38. I have been paying into social security for 25 years!
You don't change the game on me. Grrrr. |
There won't be anything left for you the way it is now. |
I am not planning my retirement around social security. I would rather get whatever i put in back. I am 35 |
Are you seriously expecting to have any social security around when you retire?
We just consider it to be contributions to help support our aging parents and grandparents. Our retirement is what we are putting away beyond social security. If you are our age and expecting it to be there for your retirement, you are going to be in for a rude awakening. |
Wait- you think it is like a bank? You pay in and then you get your money back?!?? Let me guess. Obama voter? |
I don't rely on mr I don't care about 47% to manage it. |
It will never go away, don't worry. |
I'm 40. I do want my social security! |
Hell. I am 52 and I don't expect to collect--never have. |
What are you smoking? |
You have been paying into social security since you were 13 years old???? |
The first PP is right. The trust funds may run out, but even after that, people will still be paying the FICA tax and that will be enough to pay 3/4 of benefits. Plus Congress will probably eventually fix the remaining 1/4 gap with some combination of FICA tax increases and benefit cuts. |
I'd like my homeowners insurance premiums back now that my house had not burned down. But it ain't happening. |
Oh, snap! ![]() |
Can't speak for OP, but I certainly have. I was delivering newspapers then and FICA was withheld. |
