Good OB/GYN in Silver Spring/Rockville

My husband and I are new transplants to the area and we have been going to Dr. Band's practice of Capital Women's Care. His practice includes about 6 or 7 OB/GYNs and they have offices in Silver Spring (on Georgia Ave) and Rockville (Shady Grove Road). They are affiliated with Holy Cross Hospital.

They are an outstanding practice! I had to share this for all new people to the area because I feel like I found them by luck.

Avoid Dr. Gurdian with Capital Women's Care. In fact, avoid the whole office on Medical Center Drive. I almost died because of an error she made.

I saw her once for an emergency during my pregnancy. She is colder than ice. I don't believe she has a compassionate bone in her body.

I love Dr. Krinn - Capital Women's Care in Bethesda. I double love Dr. Tobie Beckerman. I can no longer see her as she is not affiliated with any insurance company so she would be "out of network" for everyone. However, she is the absolute best!

I saw Dr. Band for a second opinion and loved him. I regularly see Drs. Dickman and Maggid at another CWC in Rockville. Like them a whole lot.

I know a lot of people who love Maggid. Here is the thing - it is great if you only need GYN. But for OB stuff, you are subjected to all the other doctors in the practice at all the Capital Womens Care groups. And when you deliver, you get whoever is on hospital rotation that day. It seems like they have one or two great docs and then several middling to atrocious in each group. This was my experience and I have talked with many other women with the same experiences at other CWC groups.

It blows and it seems like the majority of doctors in this area are part of a CWC practice.

Exactly right, PP. Love your use of "middling." My first was delivered by "atrocious" and my second by Maggid. Dickman is my regular go-to gynecologist.

I second Captial Women's Center. I've met 4 out if the 7, but primary Dr Band. They were outstanding. I've never been this happy with an OBGYN, and I lived I'm 4 different cities as a adult. Wonderful practice!!!

Drs. Dickman and Maggin delivered my two babies and I liked them both a lot but this is correct -- you can't determine whom you see unless (like me) you have scheduled C's.

Everyone in the Rockville office is competent/exceptional. Can't speak for Silver Spring. Dr. Maggid is out of this world.

Band delivered my first, and Sine delivered my second. Lizardo delivered my sister's baby. I've been very happy with this practice for 12 years.

Love Dr. Maggid too but when I delivered I got some horrible woman from the group with absolutely no bedside manner.
