I am looking for any suggestions of places to purchase fresh fish. I usually go to SS Whole Foods (aka Whole Paycheck....), but it is pretty expensive. Hoping to find an alternative if one exists. I have had some luck with Camerons on 16th street, but they aren't always super helpful.

Try one of the asian markets... H Mart, Grand Mart, Great Wall, Kam Sam.
They usually have tanks of live fish, as well as other fresh and frozen ones. |
| There is a hole in teh wlal place next to Bethesda Crab House not sure what it is claled but is by far the best fish place around. |
| We usually go to the fish market on Connecticut Ave in Chevy Chase DC (one block south of the Safeway). There is a small parking lot in back. But prices are probably comparable to Whole Foods, but we think the fish quality is usually better. |
Same here. Better quaility than Whole Foods and never frozen like Whole Foods. Good selection. If youc all ahead, they will peel your shrimp for you. He also has really good quality vegetables. |
Is this the Chevy Chase Seafood Market? Sounds awesome, will definitely check it out. |
| Broad Branch market. Apparently the place that stocks Sushi Ko stops there next on every trip. |
It is called The Fishery. |

A&H - next to Bethesda Crab House.
Black Salt - pricey but very fresh. |
| It's not Bethesda, SS, or Chevy Chase, but we live in Bethesda and whenever we are in the city (a lot), we go down to the SW waterfront fishmarkets. Everything is fresh (or they tell you if it's frozen), they tell you where it's from, and the prices are very good. |
| OP here, thanks to everyone for the recommendations! Looks like have some serious shopping to do! |
| The fishery. |
| BlackSalt is my favorite, but I also second the recommendation for The Fishery in Chevy Chase DC. Good fish, nice people. |
| I second the Salt River Lobster reco. Saturdays at Kensington Train Station, Fridays at Bethesda Community Mrkt at Old Georgetown and Greentree. |
